Australia
For World Egg Day 2023, Australian Eggs encouraged country-wide digital engagement by asking their team members, as well as influencers, to create 10-second films naming as many egg dishes as possible. In addition, they targeted busy mums in partnership with Mamamia, Australia’s largest women’s media network, to showcase the ease and versatility of egg-based meals. Finally, Australians’ love for eggs was highlighted with the release of new consumption stats in the form of teaser videos, showcasing that Aussies are enjoying more eggs than ever before.
McLean Farms’ team members celebrated World Egg Day 2023 by sharing an egg-based meal together. Egg products were kindly supplied by Sunny Queen and distributed to the company’s 15 farm sites.
Belize
For World Egg Day, the Belize Poultry Association and Caribbean Chicken partnered with the Belize Agricultural Health Authority to serve delicious breakfast burritos, with the help of parents and teachers, to the 150 children who attend Trinidad Primary School. The egg-ceptional breakfast was followed by educational talks on the benefits of eggs to the children as well as on a local TV station.
Bolivia
In Bolivia, Asociación de Avicultores de Santa Cruz (ADA) prepared ‘The Largest Egg Pizza in the City’ in La Paz, which was shared with the general public. In Santa Cruz, the public were invited to attend a ‘Gastronomic Encounter’ where a contest was held to choose the most practical, economical and healthy egg-based dish.
Brazil
In Brazil, the Gaúcha Poultry Association (ASGAV) partnered with the Ovos RS Program to organise an interactive series of events for World Egg Day 2023. Activities included the distribution of snack and information kits, a music festival and breakfasts with charities, which took place in the week leading up to World Egg Day.
Canada
In recognition of World Egg Day, Manitoba Egg Farmers hosted a booth at the University of Manitoba, the largest University in the province. The booth provided students with quiches, recipes and information on the health benefits of eggs as part of their Powered by Eggs campaign, after students were identified as a group who would benefit highly from eating the versatile, nutritious and affordable egg!
Egg Farmers of Canada (EFC) celebrated with a national public relations campaign that shone a light on the sustainability efforts of Canada’s 1,200 egg farmers and farming families. A new trivia game, Earthwise Egg Quest: Canadian Egg Farming Trivia Challenge, was released by EFC in support of the campaign that aims to educate Canadian’s about how eggs can contribute to a more sustainable and healthier future.
Colombia
In Colombia, FENAVI celebrated World Egg Day 2023 with a search for the country’s ‘Breakfast Kings’. A team of influencers posted content from their visits to restaurants in each city, encouraging viewers to visit them, try their menu and comment on their favourite choices. FENAVI chose and awarded a winner for each city, crowning them the ‘Breakfast King’. After the competition, digital content was developed that featured the winning restaurants, telling the story behind them.
France
Fan d’Oeufs celebrated the run up to World Egg Day with a digital interactive game, ‘Marcocotte’s World Tour’, where Marcocotte, the hen, travels the world, highlighting the many benefits of eggs, whilst learning new egg-based recipes from around the world, one continent at a time. The company also organised egg-based cooking master classes in high schools, with recipes and results published across their social media platforms.
India
In India, Heifer International India collaborated with a sand artist who created a dramatic piece centred around World Egg Day!
Additionally, the Animal Husbandry Department distributed free eggs to the patients of JLN Medical College, Ajmer and a presentation was provided to local farmers about the nutritional benefits of the egg by the department’s Senior Veterinary Officer, Dr Alok Khare.
Furthermore, the Department of Poultry Science at Nagour Veterinary College had many egg-citing celebrations that took place, including distribution of eggs, an egg nutrition lecture as well as competitions that involved eating as many eggs as possible and cooking egg recipes!
Italy
In Italy, the initiative ‘L’Europa è un uovo’ (‘Europe is an Egg’) recognised World Egg Day with a special walk through the streets of Turin. The journey included stops at various restaurants that served egg-centric dishes from different countries to convey the message that Europe can be united by the egg – as it is present in many dishes across the continent! Additionally, each participant was assigned a European country and encouraged to contribute a traditional egg-based recipe from that nation, which has been compiled into an e-book available online.
Indonesia
For World Egg Day, the Indonesian Poultry Farmers Association collaborated with Infovet Magazine, Ministry of Agriculture, National Food Agency, Blitar Islamic University, Airlangga University, Indonesian Animal Health Company Association, Indonesian Veterinary Association and others to hold a whole host of EGG-citing events. These included exhibitions, talk shows on the nutritional benefits of eggs, seminars covering health, animal product safety and effective medication as well various competitions and the distribution of eggs to areas of malnourishment. The main event was held in Blitar, East Java, a ‘healthy walk’ attended by more than 5,000 people where over 10,000 eggs were consumed. Attendees also enjoyed the announcement of competition winners, lucky draws and a chicken dance show!
Latvia
For World Egg Day 2023, Balticovo dedicated the entire month to celebrating the incredible egg! On the day itself, egg enthusiasts were invited to share their favourite egg recipes and families across the country were asked to take part in a free online egg-themed quiz. Balticovo also raised money for Ukraine by selling eggs and released a series of informative videos about the nutritional power of eggs. World Olympic Gold Medallist 3X3 basketball players named their reasons to enjoy eggs as part of Balticovo’s social media campaign.
Macedonia
The World Poultry Association Macedonia Branch joined World Egg Day celebrations for the first time in 2023 with a themed panel discussion on ‘Eggs for a healthy future’ which was followed by an ‘EGGcellent food’ culinary demonstration of egg recipes.
Mauritius
In Mauritius, Oeudor provided inclusive activities for children as well as an egg-based breakfast for the company’s employees.
Mexico
In Mexico, The Avícola National Institute (INA) celebrated World Egg Day by running a series of educational conference sessions, webinars and podcasts that covered the health benefits of egg consumption and reasons for celebrating World Egg Day. Producers of Jalisco worked alongside the University Center of Los Altos de Jalisco (CUALTOS) to organise an International Egg Fair that involved games, competitions and educational talks.
Netherlands
In the Netherlands, the Poultry Expertise Centre organised a symposium at the Poultry Museum for World Egg Day. Additionally, they organised a children’s colouring competition, that involved local farmers, as well as a cooking contest where entrants from different nationalities created dishes typical of their home country. Eggs were also cooked and distributed to visitors.
New Zealand
As part of New Zealand’s World Egg Day Celebrations, Egg Producers Federation NZ ran a public vote for ‘Breakfast Decision 2023’, and encouraged members to share their own ‘Unbeatable Egg Breakfasts’.
Pakistan
In Pakistan, Roomi Poultry (Pvt.) in collaboration with the Department of Poultry Production, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, celebrated World Egg Day 2023 by welcoming students and member of the public to their World Egg Day event. The day featured a special egg lunch for disabled children, an egg awareness walk and an egg dish cooking competition. Egg Box, a product of Roomi Poultry Pvt. Ltd. (Golden Egg Award Winner 2022), released two new egg products for the special day – one for women and one for children.
The World’s Poultry Science Association (Pakistan Branch) celebrated World Egg Day in two prestigious institutions – the University of Lahore and Ziauddin University in Karachi. The events brought together egg experts and enthusiasts in an enlightening and engaging way.
Additionally, Noor Poultry hosted panel discussions centred around the 2023 theme for World Egg Day and sponsored an egg dish competition and awareness walk.
At Agrid Agriculture University in partnership with Sadiq Group, World Egg Day was celebrated with a seminar on the importance of egg consumption, highlighting eggs as a ‘superfood’ as well as a cooking competition where participants received cash prizes.
Panama
In Panama, ANAVIP celebrated World Egg Day by hosting an activity-filled day for school children that included dance, fun games and their superhero – ‘Super Egg’!
Philippines
In the Philippines, Eggcelsior Poultry Farms Inc. began pre-celebrations with ‘on-the-ground activities for school’ and employee photoshoots! Based on this year’s theme, ‘Eggs for a healthy future’, Eggcelsior chose to focus on educating the younger generation by helping them experience the health benefits of eggs.
To celebrate World Egg Day, Batangas Egg Producers Multipurpose Cooperative (BEPCO) partnered with the local government of San Jose, Batangas to conduct an egg street food contest, where people competed to create unique egg-based dishes in a bid to demonstrate the availability, attractiveness and affordability of eggs to Filipinos. A forum was attended by layer farmers to discuss risk and capital management as part of the execution of the Philippine Egg Industry Plan 365. World Egg Day provided a venue for promoting the nutritional power of eggs through their #LODIAngItlog campaign.
Poland
For World Egg Day 2023, Fermy Wozniak ran an informative social media campaign about the benefits of eggs and released an e-book with tasty, simple recipes that can be used by anyone!
Suflidowo published educational egg content for World Egg Day. Employees marked the day by tasting various egg dishes and trying out egg gadgets!
Romania
Toneli celebrated World Egg Day in Romania with a range of engaging activities! These included a social media contest, a cooking contest between recognised influencers, and video promotion in some of the subway stations and office buildings of Bucharest.
Spain
To mark World Egg Day 2023 in Spain, Inprovo presented their 2023 egg research award, as well as their ‘Person of the Year’ award, which recognises people or companies outside the industry who have made outstanding efforts advocating for eggs.
Inprovo also took part in Los Juegos Del Huevo (‘The Egg Games’) initiative, an online interactive game that encourages viewers to take part in challenges and potentially win prizes, whilst simultaneously learning about the health and environmental benefits of the egg.
Sri Lanka
In Sri Lanka, Ruhunu Farms (Pvt) donated eggs to expecting mothers and children in selected low-income areas to reinforce the message that eggs can contribute to eradicating common nutrient deficiencies and malnutrition. Additionally, they donated books to school libraries to educate the younger generation on the importance of a nutritional diet.
Türkiye
In Türkiye, HasTavuk organised a unique celebration for World Egg Day! The Zübeyde Hanım Anatolian High School students demonstrated their talents by running a fashion show where all garments were made from egg farm waste – including chicken feathers, egg shells and feed sacks!
United Kingdom
World Egg Day coincides with British Egg Week, so the British Egg Industry Council (BEIC) partnered with Mob Kitchen to create a modern twist on the classic Shakshuka as well as creating two new egg-citing dishes which have been released by their team of influencers on social media!
St Ewe Free Range Eggs celebrated with a social media campaign that promoted the nutritional benefits of eggs, featuring something new on each day of the week leading up to World Egg Day. This included EGG-citing competitions, facts, and recipes!
Additionally, The National Farmers Union (NFU) Poultry Board asked members to share their story on how they produce high quality British eggs – and how they enjoy eating them! They also created a suite of shareable content, including infographics on egg consumption, nutrition, and economic value, for members to post on their social media channels.
USA
Center Fresh in the USA welcomed around 1,500 members of the local community to their annual big omelette breakfast to mark World Egg Day!
Rose Acre Farms celebrated by promoting World Egg Day both externally to their customers across social media platforms, where they shared fun facts about #EggsForAHealthyFuture, and internally to their team on their virtual message boards.
The American Egg Board offered First Lady of the U.S., Jill Biden, a front-row seat to experience the amazing dedication of American egg farmers to celebrate World Egg Day. She was given a tour of Outward Farms’ egg facility to learn more about the egg industry’s production processes, including important biosecurity and food safety protocols that contribute to providing the US with high quality nutrition in the form of eggs.
Venezuela
SeijasHUEVOS of Venezuela partnered with professors from the Food Safety and Nutritional Culture of UPTJAA to present four presentations on the central World Egg Day 2023 theme and provided games where winners received eggs!
