Egg Sustainability

We believe sustainability should be fully integrated through every element of the egg industry and aspire to a global egg value chain that is environmentally sound, socially responsible, and economically viable.

Egg production is already one of the most environmentally-friendly forms of agricultural production, as hens convert feed into protein very efficiently and require a relatively small land base to do so. Nevertheless, we champion continuous development and improvement in sustainability across the global egg value chain through collaboration, knowledge sharing, sound science and leadership.

Sustainable Egg Production Expert Group

The WEO has brought together experts with an interest in sustainable agricultural food production to support the egg industry to continue to lead the way in sustainable protein production globally.

Egg Industry's commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goals

The WEO has committed to work in partnership with the UN to fulfil its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We are proud of the improvements that the egg industry has already made to deliver positive outcomes in line with these targets.
