Getting to the hotel

The Shangri-La Singapore is located approximately 25km from Singapore Changi Airport (SIN).

Address: Shangri-La Singapore, 22 Orange Grove Road, Singapore 258350

Taxi
Taxis are readily available at Singapore Changi Airport. The journey to the Shangri-La Singapore takes approximately 20 minutes, depending on traffic.

Alternatively, you can use a ride-hailing service. Grab is the most widely used platform in Singapore, while other popular options include Gojek, TADA and CDG Zig.

Hotel Limousine
Guests can arrange a hotel limousine transfer directly with the Shangri-La Singapore. A hotel representative will meet you at the airport aerobridge upon arrival.

To arrange an airport transfer, please contact the hotel in advance on +65 6737 3644.

MRT (Mass Rapid Transit)
Take the MRT to Orchard Station, then board the complimentary hotel shuttle bus from Orchard Station Exit 7.

Alternatively, alight at Orchard Boulevard Station or Stevens Station, both of which are approximately a 15-minute walk from the hotel.

Visas, passports and other documents

Please check Singapore’s official immigration website to see whether you require a visa or other supporting documents for your visit: https://www.ica.gov.sg/enter-transit-depart/entering-singapore.

All travellers entering Singapore are also required to complete the SG Arrival Card within three days (including the day of arrival) before getting to Singapore. The SG Arrival Card is free to submit and is not a visa. It can be completed online via the official website: https://www.ica.gov.sg/enter-transit-depart/entering-singapore/sg-arrival-card.

Currency

The currency in Singapore is the Singapore Dollar (S$).

Weather

Singapore experiences a warm, tropical climate with high humidity throughout the year. Temperatures typically range from around 25 to 31°C. Brief tropical showers and thunderstorms are common, particularly in the afternoon, but they often pass quickly. Lightweight, breathable clothing is recommended, and we encourage delegates to stay hydrated and make use of air-conditioned indoor spaces when needed.

Clothing

For WEO conferences, we suggest business-casual attire, and for the social programme, we recommend smart-casual attire, unless otherwise stated. While Singapore is warm and humid, the conference hotel and meeting spaces are fully air-conditioned.

Safety and useful contacts

Singapore is widely regarded as one of the safest cities in the world. However, as with any international destination, we recommend taking sensible precautions, keeping valuables secure and remaining aware of your surroundings in busy public areas.

Singapore emergency services number/s: To contact the police call 999. For ambulance or fire services call 995 from any phone.

Hospital: Singapore General Hospital is approximately a 10-minute drive from the Shangri-La Singapore. It provides 24-hour emergency services and a wide range of specialist medical care.

Pharmacy: P+L Pharmacy is the nearest pharmacy, located approximately a 10-minute walk or 3-minute drive from the hotel.

If you require a doctor during your stay, please contact the hotel concierge.

Electricity

Volts: The standard voltage in Singapore is 230V at a frequency of 50Hz.

Electric plug/adaptors: Singapore uses Type G power plugs.

Tipping

Tipping is not generally expected in Singapore, as most hotels and restaurants automatically include a 10% service charge, often alongside Goods and Services Tax (GST). While exceptional service may be recognised with a small gratuity, it is entirely optional. Taxis do not require tipping, although passengers may round up the fare if they wish.
