World Egg Day

World Egg Day was established in Vienna in 1996, when it was decided that the power of the egg would be celebrated on the second Friday in October each year.

In 2026, World Egg Day marks its 30th anniversary, celebrating three decades of recognising the egg’s incredible nutritional value and versatility.

Since its beginnings, egg lovers around the world have found creative ways to honour this nutrient powerhouse, and the global celebration continues to grow and evolve each year.

Join in the celebration!

World Egg Day 2026 | Friday 9 October

World Egg Day 2026 marks 30 years of celebrating eggs and raising awareness of their nutritional value around the world. As a natural source of high-quality protein, eggs power the body and protect overall health.

There are many ways to get involved in the 30th anniversary celebrations, from hosting community breakfasts to organising educational activities. However you choose to celebrate, World Egg Day is a unique opportunity to join the global celebrations of one of the world’s most versatile and nutritious foods.
