Programme purpose and outcomes

Purpose

The Young Egg Leaders Programme provides a platform for the next generation to build upon the WEO ethos of forming long-term industry relationships with international peers. They will have the opportunity to support their egg business with succession planning by investing in their future as next generation leaders. They will be able to share and communicate the opportunities and challenges of today’s egg industry to support the continual growth of the global egg industry. They will be able to engage with senior officials at international organisations such as WOAH, WHO and FAO alongside exclusive industry visits. They will have the potential to be recognised as high-achieving egg industry contributors and the option of fast-tracking to a WEO Leadership role.

Outcomes

  • Maximise your potential and be integrated into a global network
  • Help your egg business with succession planning by investing in your future as a next generation leader
  • Share and communicate the opportunities and challenges of today’s egg industry
  • Have the opportunity to be fast-tracked into a WEO leadership role
  • Be recognised as a high-achieving egg industry contributor

Participants

The Young Egg Leaders Programme is designed for the next generation within egg producing and processing companies on a clear trajectory to a senior leadership position. Exceptions can be made, particularly for those within the industry that have ownership potential, subject to WEO Board approval.

The programme is a member-only initiative. Non-members can take part in the Young Egg Leader Programme by registering as a member.

Participation at the WEO Business Conference in April and the WEO Global Leadership Conference in September for both years is required.

A personal highlight of the YEL programme for me was visiting global institutions like WHO and WOAH, which gave me invaluable insight from an egg industry point of view as to how these international policymakers work. Overall, the programme helped me grow both personally and professionally. These experiences, along with engaging discussions and other industry visits, broadened my perspective and deepened my understanding of our sector.
